What this calculator does

This days from today calculator tells you the date a given number of days, weeks, months or years from today, or before it, and the time a number of hours from now. Type an amount, choose the unit and the direction, and the answer appears with its weekday, its ISO week number, its day of the year and the number of days in between.

It works as a general date calculator too. Change the start date to add days to any date, such as the day an order shipped or a project began. Under the result, two tables list common offsets from your start date: 7 to 365 days and 1 to 12 weeks, in both directions.

How to use it

  1. Choose a direction. From / after moves forward in time, for "90 days from today". Before / ago moves back, for "90 days ago".
  2. Enter the amount. Days, weeks, months and years take whole numbers; hours can have up to two decimals, so 1.5 hours is 90 minutes. Commas are fine as thousands separators, so 1,000 days works, and in hours a decimal comma counts as a decimal point, so 1,5 is read as 1.5.
  3. Pick the unit: days, weeks, months, years or hours.
  4. Set the start date. It starts on today's date and follows the calendar if you leave the page open past midnight. Pick any date from the year 1 to 9999 to start elsewhere, and press Today to go back. In hours mode a Start time field appears, set to the current time; Now resets it.
  5. Read and copy the result. Copy result copies the date in words, in ISO format (2027-01-03), day first (03/01/2027) and US style (01/03/2027), with the week number and the day count.

The Try buttons load common questions in one click: 30, 45, 60 and 90 days, 6 weeks, 6 months, 1 year, 90 days ago and 8 hours.

How the date is calculated

Days and weeks are pure calendar arithmetic. The start date is day 0, so one day from today is tomorrow:

result = start date + amount (days)
result = start date + amount × 7    (weeks)

Each date becomes a day number, the amount is added, and the result becomes a date again. Month lengths and leap years are exact, and no time zone is involved, so the clock cannot push the answer off by one.

Worked example. From Monday, October 5, 2026:

  • 30 days from it is Wednesday, November 4, 2026: 26 days take you to October 31, and 4 more reach November 4.
  • 45 days is Thursday, November 19, and 60 days is Friday, December 4, 2026.
  • 90 days is Sunday, January 3, 2027: 26 days to the end of October, 30 in November and 31 in December make 87, and 3 more reach January 3.
  • 6 weeks (42 days) is Monday, November 16, 2026, the same weekday as the start.

Adding months and years: the end-of-month rule

A month is not a fixed number of days, so adding months moves the date to the same day number in a later month. October 5, 2026 plus 6 months is April 5, 2027, which is 182 days later.

The question is what to do when that day does not exist. This calculator uses the end-of-month rule that spreadsheet EDATE functions use: if the target month is too short, the result is its last day.

Feb 29, 20281 yearFeb 28, 20292029 has no February 29
Mar 31, 20261 month beforeFeb 28, 2026the same rule going back

The result card says when this happens. Other software can roll over instead: JavaScript's built-in Date turns "February 31, 2026" into March 3. Neither answer is wrong, but they differ, so check which rule your bank, landlord or software uses.

One side effect: month steps do not always add up. January 31, 2026 plus 1 month is February 28, and February 28 plus 1 month is March 28. But January 31 plus 2 months is March 31. Always add the whole number of months in one step.

Hours from now and daylight saving

In hours mode the calculator adds real elapsed time to the start time in your device's time zone. 8 hours from 6:30 PM on Monday, October 5, 2026 is 2:30 AM on Tuesday, October 6, and the date rolls over automatically.

When a daylight saving change falls in between, the wall clock jumps. In New York, clocks go back an hour at 2:00 AM on November 1, 2026, so 8 hours after 10:00 PM on October 31 is 5:00 AM, not 6:00 AM. In London, where the change came on October 25, the same sum gives 6:00 AM. The result warns you whenever your time zone's offset changes inside the calculation.

Inclusive or exclusive: how to count the days

From October 5, 2026 to January 3, 2027 is 90 days, because the first date is day 0. This is the exclusive count, and it is what "90 days from today" means.

If you count both the first and the last date, as some leave forms, hotel bookings or event schedules do, the same span has 91 days. The Days between card shows both figures so you do not have to add the 1 yourself.

Official deadlines are a separate case. Court rules, visa conditions and contracts often define their own counting, for example by starting on the day after an event or moving a deadline that lands on a weekend. Treat this tool as arithmetic, and follow the rule that governs your deadline.

ISO week numbers and day of the year

The ISO week follows ISO 8601: weeks run Monday to Sunday, and week 1 is the week with the year's first Thursday. So a date can belong to the previous or next year's numbering. January 3, 2027 is in week 53 of 2026, because 2026 started on a Thursday. Many US calendars and spreadsheet week functions start weeks on Sunday instead, so their numbers can differ by one.

The day of the year counts from January 1 as day 1. October 5, 2026 is day 278 of 365, with 87 days left in the year.

Practical uses

  • Returns and trials. A 30-day return window or a 14-day free trial that starts on October 5, 2026 ends on November 4 or October 19. Note whether the seller counts the purchase day.
  • Looking back. Bank statements, phone bills and reports often cover the last 90 days. 90 days ago from October 5, 2026 was Tuesday, July 7, 2026.
  • Project plans. Put milestones at 6, 8 and 12 weeks from the kickoff. Week steps keep every milestone on the same weekday.
  • Shifts and travel. Use hours mode for "8 hours from now" to find when a shift ends or when you land, then the military time converter if the schedule uses 24-hour times.

Tips and common mistakes

  • Days and months are different questions. "Within 3 months" and "within 90 days" can end on different dates. Use the unit the rule names.
  • Watch the start. "30 days from the invoice date" and "30 days from today" give different answers. Change the start date when it is not today.
  • Dates near midnight. The calculator uses your device's date. Someone in another time zone may already be on tomorrow's date.
  • Write dates without ambiguity. 03/01/2027 is January 3 in most of the world but March 1 in the US. The copy text includes the ISO form, 2027-01-03, which nobody misreads.
  • Business days are not counted. Every calendar day counts here, weekends and holidays included.

Privacy and limitations

Every date is worked out in your browser, and nothing you type is sent anywhere. The calculator remembers your last amount, unit and start date until you close the tab, using session storage on your device. Dates run from the year 1 to 9999 in the Gregorian calendar. Hours depend on your device's time zone data, and the tool does not skip weekends or public holidays.

Frequently asked questions

What date is 90 days from today?

It depends on today's date, which is why the calculator reads it from your device. As a fixed example, 90 days from Monday, October 5, 2026 is Sunday, January 3, 2027. Ninety days is close to three months but usually one or two days short of it, because most three-month spans contain 91 or 92 days. Pick 3 months instead if your rule says months.

How do I add 30 days to a date by hand?

Count the days left in the current month, then carry the rest into the next one. From October 5, 2026, October has 26 more days (31 minus 5), which leaves 4 days to add in November, so the answer is November 4. Repeat month by month for bigger numbers, remembering that February has 28 days, or 29 in a leap year.

Is 30 days the same as one month?

No. A calendar month is 28 to 31 days long. One month after October 5, 2026 is November 5, which is 31 days later, while one month after February 1, 2026 is March 1, only 28 days later. When a form, contract or subscription says “30 days”, count days; when it says “one month”, move to the same day number in the next month.

What is 6 weeks from today?

Six weeks is exactly 42 days, so the result always falls on the same weekday as the start. From Monday, October 5, 2026, six weeks later is Monday, November 16, 2026, and six weeks earlier is Monday, August 24, 2026. The weeks table under the result lists 1 to 12 weeks in both directions for whatever start date you choose.

Does the calculator count today as day 1?

No. The start date is day 0, so 1 day from today is tomorrow and 7 days from a Monday is the next Monday. This is the usual way to add days to a date. If you need to count both the first and the last day, the Days between card shows that figure too, one higher. Deadlines in contracts or official rules may define their own counting, so check the wording that applies.

How does the calculator handle hours that cross midnight or a clock change?

Hours are added as real elapsed time on your device's clock, and the date rolls over when you pass midnight: 8 hours from 6:30 PM on Monday is 2:30 AM on Tuesday. If a daylight saving change happens in between, the clock time shifts by an hour. In New York, 8 hours after 10:00 PM on October 31, 2026 is 5:00 AM, not 6:00 AM, and the result explains why.

What is an ISO week number?

ISO 8601 numbers the weeks of a year from Monday to Sunday, and week 1 is the week that contains the year's first Thursday. That is why January 1 to 3, 2027 belong to week 53 of 2026. Many US calendars instead start weeks on Sunday and call the week that contains January 1 week 1, so their numbers can differ by one.

Can I calculate dates far in the past or future?

Yes, for any year from 1 to 9999. The tool uses the Gregorian calendar throughout, extended backwards before it was adopted. Countries switched at different times, Britain and its colonies in 1752, so for older historical dates the result may not match the date written in documents of the time. Leap years follow the Gregorian rule, so 1900 was not a leap year and 2000 was.
